Nightlife in Glasgow

Glasgow has one of the strongest nightlife scenes in the UK, with a deep history in both live music and underground club culture. The city offers events across genres including techno, house, indie, rock, hip-hop, electronic, and folk. Glasgow nightlife is active every night of the week, with a particularly strong programme on Fridays and Saturdays.

Sub Club on Jamaica Street has operated since 1987, making it one of the longest-running underground dance clubs in the world — its Subculture residency is internationally recognised. SWG3 on the banks of the Clyde is a multi-space arts venue hosting everything from intimate shows to 4,000-capacity raves. King Tut's Wah Wah Hut is where Oasis were signed, and continues to book emerging acts. The Barrowland Ballroom is one of the most iconic gig venues in the UK.

Glasgow has a large student population and a local culture with a strong appetite for going out. The city is generally more affordable than Edinburgh for nightlife. Celtic Connections in January fills the city with folk and traditional music, and TRNSMT festival in summer takes over Glasgow Green.
