Southampton's clubs and venues are spread across a walkable city centre. Engine Rooms is an 860-capacity mid-size venue for live music and club events. The 1865 is a quality mid-size gig venue in a converted church. The Joiners on St Mary Street has been a grassroots live music venue since 1968, hosting hundreds of bands who went on to wider success.
Beyond the main venues, Southampton has a mix of student clubs, late-night bars along Bedford Place, and smaller spaces hosting DJ sets and electronic nights. The O2 Guildhall handles arena-scale touring shows. The scene is smaller than nearby Brighton or Bristol, but it is unpretentious and the student energy keeps it lively.
