Footprints Jazz Club: ZONGA + Shugacoma

ZONGA are a 7-piece funk-rap band from Manchester, blending infectious grooves with tight flows and jazz-inflected solos.

As well as their own headline shows across Manchester, ZONGA are making a name for themselves with big support slots, opening for hip-hop legends Arrested Development at their recent sold out gig at Band on the Wall, as well as opening for Mercury-nominated Geordie jazz act Knats earlier this year.

Their debut single 'Want More Need More' received plays on BBC Introducing and Jazz FM; their second single False Independence came out in August.

On support, Shugacoma are a Sheffield-based band exploring the genres of funk, soul and r&b with the intent of creating a vibrant sound for all to enjoy. Shugacoma were unfortunately unable to join us back in August, so we're delighted to have them on the bill here!

We gratefully acknowledge Jazz North's New Northern scheme in supporting this gig.
