Dabke and Dinner: A Fundraiser Night

Line up, hold on, follow the person next to you - that is roughly all the instruction you get! (We're joking of course..) An evening of dabke, hot food and drink in Brighton, raising first-year tuition for Ibrahim and Abdallah, two best friends from Khan Younis, Gaza who start university in October. They are not waiting to be helped before they help others: earlier this year they set up the Open Doors Centre (@studentcentergaza), which is not a building but a moving one, renting space in cafés and back rooms so students in Khan Younis have somewhere to work. Through Tawjihi (secondary school exam) season they kept candidates fed and steadied while they sat their papers. Now it is their turn to have help sitting exams of their own, albeit this time will be university exams.This is a party, not a class - the line takes anyone who joins it, and if you would rather stay at the edge and clap, that is a real job too and it is unpaid.Food and drink available to buy through the night, with eve...
