Milestones with Lubi Jovanovic & Nathan Dodsworth

For the third Milestones we’re at the newly coined venue - The System **formerly Toolmaker’s live ** - and have more high energy dancefloor jazz from a couple of home-county heavies on 27th September 2026.

Down from Leeds we’ve got DJ Lubi (Lubi Jovanovic ) - who has unarguably been one of the busiest bodies in the UK jazz scene for nearly 45 years now and such a key figure in our isles’ underground, alternative dance music history.

Originally part of the legendary up-north jazz & funk DJ troupe the DIG Family that started back in ‘82 - Lubi has first most been non stop since and has built a reputation as one of the UK’s finest DJs that specialises in Latin / salsa music as part of the wide cast of dancefloor jazz and beyond. Lubi’s deejaying tip is just that atop of an iceberg and around this does everything you can pretty much think of as part of the live music scene… radio, promoter… presenter…journalist… festival organiser and was even a musician in UK jazz and Latin bands for short of 15 years in the 80s/90s. Through his career, Lubi has promoted & led 100s of their first live shows up in Leeds for the likes of Ezra Collective, Yussef Kamaal Trio, SEED Ensemble, corto.alto, Kokoroko, Neue Grafik Ensemble, Colectiva, Emma Rawicz, Rosie-Frater Taylor, Olive Jones, Matters Unknown to name a few… aswell as giving tons of Leeds stars their first shows here when they were students/emerging artists starting out full-time professionals.

Most recently, Lubi has the full time job of managing Mambo International Orchestra - a 13 piece big band with their debut album out this month and can still be caught throwing it down at the likes of PUSH - a jazz dance in partnership with Leeds’ loveliest loudspeaker system; Cosmic Slop.

We’ve then got our good friend Nathan Dodsworth - one half of Voodoo Jazz Sound System, that’s a relaxed (still frantic in parts!) Sunday social in a family run Bar and Cafe, Coles Corner, here in Sheffield. Nathan is one of them that has both knowledge and the records to match and we’re so happy to finally have this happen in pairing up our principles in representing dancefloor jazz here in Sheffield.
