20 years of alt.vinyl since that first release of Volcano the Bear on 8” lathe in 2006. 73 releases later we are still active on Bandcamp. Tonight’s line up features four of the label’s major artists and good friends – :zoviet*france:, Richard Dawson, brb>voicecoil and (on the decks) Jazzfinger Soundsystem. Completing the line up is the wonderful Nev Clay, the spiritual beating heart of the North East and, I’m pleased to say, another close friend.

ZF Releases such as 7.10.12, joint releases such as Patina Pooling with Fossil Aerosol Mining Project, and the solo Atom Earth Mother release resulted in frostbite inducing hikes in the Cheviots, fire based fever dreams of burning pyres, much bending of steel and more box set building than I care to recall. Richard Dawson >> A core part of the alt.vinyl story since the shop opening in 2004, also as a solo artist and as part of Hen Ogledd on the alt.vinyl label. No longer the North East’s best kept secret he now straddles the globe with his singular sharply observed songcraft.
