About

Berlin and London artists collide for one night of grunge, shoegaze, and cinematic electronica in Hackney. Hailing from Berlin's QS1 Studio Collective, Yasha 96 & Mo Van Zandt curate a night of noir rock between two cities.

Yasha 96 (DE/CZ)

Yasha 96 is an indie pop project by Jáchym Kovář, currently based in Berlin. Drawing inspiration from the evocative singer-songwriter sound of the 90s, the project blends nostalgic elements with a fresh, contemporary indie pop aesthetic, incorporating influences from post-punk and shoegaze.

Yasha 96 performs with a full band, delivering a rich and dynamic live experience that goes beyond the traditional solo singer-songwriter format.

Often described as a hidden gem of the Czech alternative scene, Yasha 96’s debut album The Boy Who Came Here From The Dust was named one of the best indie pop albums of 2021 by the radio show Reflector. His follow-up album FILIP is built around voice memos recorded by friends between 2021 and 2023, forming a narrative that explores themes of love, grief, self-doubt, and acceptance. The album was also recognized by Headliner Magazine as one of the top 100 Czech albums of the 21st century.

Yasha was shortlisted for the Czech Music Academy Awards (Anděl) in the Best New Artist category in 2023. FILIP also received two nominations at the Czech Music Critic Awards Apollo (Album of the Year and Single of the Year 2023). He has further been selected for Czeching 2025, an export-focused competition organized by Radio Wave, and recently released a new album titled E/DM (Enjoying / Destroying Myself). The single “Shake You Off” won the Czech Music Academy Award (Anděl) for Best Music Video in 2025.

“The music of Yasha 96 is tender and danceable at the same time… songs that rise up and carry you away,” said Christoph Scharag from RBB Radio Fritz. The project has received support from playlists such as New Music Friday CZ/SK and Neon, as well as Czech radio stations Express and Radio 1, and Fenne Lily’s Apathy Hour podcast.

SHEIVA (UK/IRN)

SHEIVA’s music spans as many genres as the instruments they play. You’ve got the classics (piano, guitar, bass) alongside the Persian – the tombak and daf (percussion), setar and santoor (stringed instrument), and the ney (an ancient flute). On their debut EP ‘Heech’, the queer, 27-year-old British-Iranian isn’t seeking cohesiveness, but a dizzying eclecticism that will leave listeners reeling.

“Heech” is Farsi for “nothing”, reflecting SHEIVA’s refusal to submit as they navigate the world as a gender-nonconforming person, seeking to create moshable music “where misfits and freedom fighters can come rage”. A concise three-track effort, ‘Heech’ blends traditional Iranian sounds with metal, jazz, trap, and grunge, courtesy of the artist’s impressive multi-instrumental capabilities.

Joshua West (UK)

Mo Van Zandt (DE,USA)

Maverick singer-producer Mo Van Zandt weaves electronica, trip-hop and IDM into music between annihilation and beauty. Driven by art rock and turn-of-millennium dance music, she blends experimental rhythm and bass with soulful vocals into a left-field pop likened to Bjork & Imogen Heap. Her bass-heavy anthems are played out in Berlin clubs and radio (HöR, OHM). Together with Eric Baldwin aka Cocktail Party Effect, Van Zandt crafts a semi-fictional soundtrack for her life in dance music communities across New York, London, and Berlin.

In 2026, Van Zandt collaborated with John Grant & Cocktail Party Effect on the score and single for her club short "BOTTLECAP". The film broadcast the spirit of her scene at it's international premiere at BFI Flare, a “10 Ten Must Watch Short” - Directors Cut. Her live set brings her Berlin movie scene to life with music from the original score.
