Built around music and the people who make it, The People, The Place events have brought together a community of artists and listeners rooted in the same values, creative independence, a genuine love of craft, and a deep care for the dancefloor.
After shows at 91 Living Room and Grow Hackney, they bring the dance to The Bath House for the first time. A full day from 3pm to midnight, with artists who have been part of and inspired us from the start.
Beringei and Footshooter open the day together. Two of the label’s curators, their back-to-back moves between the ethereal and the rhythmic. Music that drifts and pulls people to the floor in the same breath.
Divorce From New York makes the journey from San Sebastian fresh from the release of Jazzthetics on High Praise Records. A record that draws on broken beat, jungle and jazz with a sound shaped by years of close ties to London’s underground. Expect that same depth and warmth on the floor.
Last Nubian has become one of the most respected names on the scene with releases on Eglo Records and Touching Bass. His sets carry the same depth as his output, rooted in house, broken beat and the full stretch of UK dance music’s lineage.
Saige Sounds joins The People, The Place for the first time. Her sets move freely between Chicago house, broken beat, jazz and disco, always in service of the room.
