About
This year’s St Ceciliatide Festival is focused on this one concert, and we are delighted to welcome a return visit from the outstanding Britten Sinfonia Chamber Soloists who are presenting a typically entertaining and inspiring programme, devised by their CEO, Meurig Bowen, combining the folksiness of Veress, the playful humour of Richard Strauss with the magical drama of Britten, played by solo oboe from the Hall’s Minstrels’ Gallery. In previous years this concert has sold out, so early booking is recommended.ST CECILIA, the patron saint of music and musicians, has been celebrated at Stationers’ Hall since at least 1692, when Henry Purcell’s second Ode, ‘Hail, Bright Cecilia’ received its world première here in the Hall.PROGRAMMEBernhard Crusell: Concert Trio for Clarinet, Horn and BassoonBenjamin Britten: Metamorphoses after Ovid for OboeMichael Haydn: Divertimento in C Major for Violin, Bassoon, and Double BassSándor Veress: Sonatina for Oboe, Clarinet, and BassoonRichard Strauss:...
