Onda will be taking over the Loft space at Low Profile Studios for their winter warmer featuring Kamar, Bella, Roya11, Gandee and Onda Residents.
Onda began as an intimate bi-annual gathering in Hampshire, held in the back room of a grassroots music venue by a local railway station. What started as a modest celebration of global music and connection quickly grew into something greater. Onda returns to London as we prepare for our second event in the capital following a sell-out first event earlier this year. The music showcases some of the best global dance music, spanning everything from Samba to Italo Disco, Raï to Zouk, Cumbia to Soul and more. No matter the city nor the venue, Onda's aim to create a space to dance, meet new people and discover new music remains the same. Updates on set times and queries can be found on our Instagram @ondacreativ.e
Line up:
Kamar:
Kamar has quickly become one of London's most exciting new voices in underground dance music. The Palestinian/British DJ, broadcaster and record collector brings a sound that's deeply rooted in house and boogie but built for exploration on the dancefloor. A resident of Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, Kamar’s monthly show, Tealeaves, champions cultural diversity and explores and how the movement of people shapes music. With a mind-bending spectrum of music discovered and shared on the show, an incredible array of artists has joined as guests - from Cymande, Nitin Sawhney and Mad Professor to Channel One Soundsystem, anaiis, Rogê, and beyond.
Kamar, whose name comes from the Arabic word for moonlight, is known for uplifting, percussive, and exploratory sets which see him traverse across Deep House B-sides, Latin white label records, hidden Brazilian gems and psychedelic disco. His rise in the UK scene has seen him perform at Glastonbury Festival, We Out Here and Love Supreme, and headline some of the UK’s most respected clubs: Night Tales Loft, Jumbi, Phonox, The Jago and Brilliant Corners. Kamar has warmed up for the likes of Floating Points, Ruby Savage, Acid Arab, Habibi Funk, GUTS and John Gomez, as well as toured across South
Asia and North Africa. Kamar is a familiar voice on influential UK airwaves beyond Worldwide FM, with multiple appearances on NTS and Rinse FM and MyAnalogJournal.
Bella:
Founder of Ley Lines festival, Bella's music choice taps into a tapestry of genres, each track chosen with the dancers in mind. Her sound spans African rhythms, Hip-Hop, Latin, Electro-Funk and Tropical Disco - sprinkled with silly bootleg edits when she can sneak them in.
Roya11:
As per usual, we are once again joined by Onda old-timer and dearest friend Roya11, who will be warming things up on the night. His sets weave ambient house through to electro and disco.
Gandee:
Onda co-founder Gandee returns for his London debut, bringing dance music from across the globe. His sets weave together sounds from Latin America, West Africa, the Caribbean and Southwest Asia.
