dérive takes its name from the idea of an unplanned journey. Moving without a fixed destination and letting instinct, chance and your landscape guide you.

We’re bringing that notion to the dancefloor.

Taking cues from the early house parties of New York and London - from The Loft to Shoom -where the music comes first, the rules were loose and all sorts of people found themselves sharing the same dance floor, derive welcomes everyone.

Inspired by repurposed spaces where music has historically flourished, our first edition takes over Algha’s Plant Room in Hackney Wick, utilising it as a space for connection, movement, and collective escapism.

At the heart of dérive is the music. We’re bringing together DJs we love and curating sets that move across house, techno, garage, bass and beyond, with a shared focus on music made to be danced to.

No spectators participation only. Get involved with some conscious abandon!

For our first edition, Laura De Greef brings a groove-led blend of classic house, UK garage, micro-house and tech house, balancing warmth, texture and soul with a distinctly club-focused energy. FAFF share that instinct for movement, refusing to be pinned to any one genre or style and moving freely through house, garage, breaks and bass. SUCHI shifts between dub, bass, techno and house, letting the weight and mood respond to the room, while Milly on Air keeps things playful with a high-energy mix of house, breaks and techno. Rounding things out are dérive founders KaYa B2B BJ.
