About

Spin Desire and the emerald planet present Anatomy of a Cry

tickets on DICE

French-American artist based between Paris and London, Crystal Murray has been developing a distinctive musical and visual practice since her teenage years, at the crossroads of alternative pop, R&B, electronic music and performance. Daughter of jazz saxophonist David Murray, she explores the connections between identity, heritage, emotions and the body, while resisting aesthetic and cultural labels. With Anatomy of a Cry, her latest six-track project, she examines crying as a physical and emotional expression through sonic explorations of the voice, vulnerability and intensity.

Anatomy of a Cry is a special live performance, stripped down, RAW, offering a closer look into Crystal’s musical universe. A night dedicated to raw sounds, artistic expression, and meaningful encounters.

Once described as "something one might hear before they pass," 𝐃𝐞𝐮é𝐧 is the solo project of producer, bassist, composer, and visual artist Kaiuna O. Their "rnb concrete" weaves metallic production, bass, and reverb-coated grunge-esque vocals into unusual, tender melodies. Exploring the shadowland between pleasure and pain, the grotesque and beauty, Deuén's practice is an ode to the fleeting moments that make life worth living. A firework of delirium shot straight from the heart, their performances are a devotion to dance, improvisation, theatrics, fashion, and the sounds of 90s RnB, folk, and rock. Deuén has performed and showcased work with Fridman Gallery, Microscope Gallery, Slut Island Festival, Montez Press Radio, Creative Code Art, Stone Circle Theatre, Laboratory Spokane, Made in Media Center NY, and St. Mark's Church.⁣⁣

⁣⁣

A recognisable force from Manchester’s left-field music scene, experimental cellist and singer 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐢 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞 balances noise and melody in songs that elude genre but always entrance. Her work explores the outer edges of her instrument, weaving introspective, dreamlike fragments into gently unsettling sonic worlds using the many sounds of the cello with voice and electronics.⁣⁣

⁣⁣

Deuén and Lili will blur their sound worlds through collaboration, improvisation, and noise to present a joint set of both of their songs.⁣⁣
