About this event

Following the September launch with David Jackson, Noetic Rhythm continues its new chapter at Bongo with a headline appearance from Jacksonville on Saturday 10 October.

The new Hobbes Music series takes its name from the label’s latest sub-label and its guiding philosophy: “bringing people together and elevating consciousness through a shared dance-floor experience built on collective energy, connection and the unifying power of rhythm.” In a city with such a fertile underground music community, the Bongo remains a natural home for that idea — a long-standing refuge for independently minded, alternative and leftfield sounds.

Jacksonville, aka Chris Lyth, needs little introduction to the Hobbes faithful. A fixture of Edinburgh’s electronic underground, his hardware-driven live sets have been deployed to considerable effect at countless Hobbes nights over the years. Now he returns, bringing the same instinct for adventurous, groove-heavy selections to the booth.

His production CV runs deeeeep. Releases have appeared on respected labels including 20/20 Vision, Leftroom, Plastic City, Shanti, Metamorphic, Inner Shift and Hobbes Music, spanning house, electro, techno and bass. His 2020 FON EP on Hobbes remains a particular highlight: an unruly three-tracker of electro, UK bass, techno and dub influences that picked up support from heavyweight selectors including Laurent Garnier, Rolando and Dan Curtin. More recently, 2025’s Oracle Memory EP (for fellow Edinburgh imprint Stepback) delivered another beautifully off-centre collection, with tracks such as Cupid & Psyche and Golden Reptiles demonstrating that Lyth’s relationship with the dancefloor remains gloriously unorthodox.

His return also follows an impressive Hobbes Music and Club_Nacht run that brought Crazy P, Bradley Zero, Hammer, Auntie Flo, Session Victim, Etienne de Crécy, Austin Ato, OOFT!, Anish Kumar, MiNNA, Kirollus, O'Flynn, Barbara Boeing, Wallace, JD Twitch/Optimo (RIP), Michelle Manetti, Nightwave, David Jackson, Lezzerquest and Yogi Haughton to the Bongo.

With Noetic Rhythm’s second vinyl release from George T, aka one half of Accident Machine, out now (following Leonidas’ 'Love For Black Lives', which sold out in under a month earlier this year), the new chapter is gathering serious momentum.
