Milestones is BACK! and we’re down in the old brewing space of Toolmakers’ Brewery here in Sheffield for our second session.
We’ve got the Impeccable Nick Schlittner from Come Sunday - An incredible, alive session in the motherland of jazz dance (Birmingham ofc!) that has snowballed since starting in 2023 and you can guess where ever Nick goes he’ll bring along a bus of some of the UKs greatest dancers with him for good, loyal reasons!
Whilst having hosted all the greats there as guest over the last few years (Paul Murphy, Colin Curtis, Perry Louis and Patrick Forge to name a few); theres no one quite like Nick to give you a no-gimmick lesson that is deeper than deep and with that incredibly excited to have Nick up with a primetime slot to show how it’s done by a true lead in today’s scene.
Down from Manchester, we’ve also Andrew Ibi from Black Jazz Heads MCR, a real champion of the culture and advocate for what ‘jazz’ truly is - both as the american art form rooted rooted from slavery, to the UK dance culture that has always been the black movement it truly is. Andrew is another proper Jazz Dance deejay that never compromises the message or the music and’ll play everything from Archie Shepp to Roy Hanes on a dance floor, knowing it’s on YOU to keep up with what’s being played.
Finally, we have Natalia Welch, newly known as Natty Jazzz who Ashley saw throw down a hard-rhythm jazz dance earlier in the year and since had to have on the bill. A lifetime afficiano who is making a natural progression to the stage! Nat’s absolute favourites are John Coltrane, Horace Silver, Nina Simone - and ofc Chris Welch’s Sounds Like This radio show on Sheffield Live that’s covered decades of UK dance culture - and with that on side, we can’t wait to see her playing hell for leather for everyone that’s come through.
