Grub Bank Holiday Takeover with Yu Su

For our third and final bank holiday takeover of the summer, we’re going all guns blazing with one of the most exciting DJs and producers on the electronic scene right now: Yu Su.

Kaifeng-born but now London-based, Yu Su is a musician, DJ, sound artist, and occasional chef, and one of the most prominent Chinese artists working across the globe over the past five years. Her multiple critically-acclaimed records on UK’s Technicolor (Ninja Tune), Netherlands’s Music from Memory, and China’s own Bie Records have seen her

nominated for Canada’s Polaris Prize, and have helped her to develop a devout and passionate following. As a DJ she is unpredictable and idiosyncratic, with her regular veers and left turns making her sets some of the most interesting and engaging around, while always remaining eminently danceable. She is not one not to be missed, trust us.

On support duties in the courtyard we have Grub regulars, and two of our absolute favourites, Porter Brook and Ol.G playing alongside Grub honcho Malus. The rest of the Grub team will run things ragged in the shop as always with their unpredictable blend of weird and wonderful pumping dance music, while yet more of our favourites take over Bar Takk in the shape of the Bassfreight collective who have just returned back to UK soil after a few months travelling.
