What Remains is the new album from John Haycock, featuring Daniel Bridgwood-Hill, produced by resonance founders Matthew Williams and Adam Kahan, and mastered in Berlin by Arnold Kasar.
Originally performed and recorded live at Hope Baptist Chapel, Hebden Bridge (2023), the music blends kora, clarinet, violin, guitar and electronics into a deeply atmospheric meeting of acoustic, processed and environmental sound rooted in the Calder Valley.
The recordings were later “worldized” in Todmorden Unitarian Church — replayed into the space and rerecorded to capture its natural acoustics. Additional sessions took place at Wainsgate Chapel, The Portico Library (Manchester) and the former Post Office Sorting House (Todmorden).
The album gathers three years of resonance events, combining sound, light and the natural reverberation of historic buildings into an immersive Calder Valley soundscape.
This concert presents a live performance of the album as part of its 2026 launch tour.
John Haycock
One of the most accomplished contemporary kora players, John trained with Gambian griot master Jali Nyonkoling Kuyateh. His music blends West African tradition with electronics and woodwind textures to create expansive and emotive soundscapes. He was a founding musician of the resonance events in Todmorden, where the What Remains project first took shape.

Dan Bridgwood-Hill
Todmorden-based composer, violinist and multi-instrumentalist, touring and collaborating with artists including Bridget Hayden and Jim Ghedi. His improvisational playing bridges folk traditions and contemporary experimental music. On What Remains, he forms a unique duet with Haycock, bringing violin and guitar into dialogue with the kora.
Laurel Morgan
Inspired by ancient traditions of grief, folk culture and psychedelia, Laurel explores sound as a portal to altered states of consciousness. Her performances move beyond logic into the emotional and intangible dimensions of listening. Her work draws deeply on voice, presence and atmosphere.
Jamie House
Founder of the resonance visual experience, Jamie creates immersive environments using crystal, analogue and digital lighting techniques. His refracted light installations respond directly to the music and architecture of each venue. He has been part of the resonance journey since its very first events.
