Aquifer is a new party mining the cavernous well of leftfield bass and low-end psychedelia, kicking up clouds of silt from a bed of dub techno, footwork-electro and minimal dnb.
Headliners Egg Meat are the duo of poet-musicians Tooth Rust (Laurel Uziell) and Georgie McVicar. Their sound cuts across synth-prog, AFX style IDM, two-step, noise, dancehall, and elegiac song, dwelling in the dirt built up between these genres. Their new album, ‘The most Pathetic poem is small people on fire’ - out now on Manchester’s vaunted Mutualism label - has won praise from music journalists and tastemakers alike, including from The Wire magazine and Pitchfork’s Philip Sherburne.
Brought together by adjacent monthly slots on Kitchen Radio, Ol. G and Sleepsang realised a shared taste for uptempo, dubby and atmospheric techno, resolving to make a space for this sound in Sheffield. For a taste of what to expect check their two hour b2b set on Kitchen Radio.
