We’re back! and we have a treat for you.
After the success of our 25th anniversary party we’re bringing you a very special, one off, international lineup featuring some of the original Curves DJs. We’re really excited about this one. Do not miss it.
Cosma
We have one of the North East’s most exciting up and coming DJs, Cosma to provide an introduction to the evening. Having played to packed crowds at Motion Sickness and delivering outstanding sets at parties like Sweet and Sour, Bloom and many others around the North East, Cosma is no stranger to controlling a crowd. Expect a set full of depth, darkness, funk and fire. This will be a warm up set that makes you move. Get down for the start. We begin immediately.
Temper D
After almost 2 decades, a legend returns. Temper D was a frequent favourite who never failed to destroy the dance floor. His quick mixing and diverse selections make his sets totally unique. He was a regular at events across European festivals like Let it Roll in Czech Republic, Fields of Joy in Hungary, World of Drum n Bass in Bulgaria, and Kings of the Jungle in Germany. and Offkey, plus countless others. As an experienced DJ, he understands how to balance quality control, energy and experimentation to perfection. Before three deck mixing was commonplace, Temper D was one of a handful of DJs would could perform on three turntables comfortably. He’s also responsible for underground classics like False Alarm with Raiden, Doppelgänger with Prolix on Viper, plus Minimal Blink and Sunrise at Sonar, just two of his solo productions. Do not miss this set. Whether you’re a newcomer or have been with us since the start, you’re going to love this.
Dark Skies
As one of the original Curves DJs and organisers, and still one of the best to ever do it, Dark Skies is a name that will live in the memories of all the original curves crew. The brains and the driving force behind our now legendary music policy, his uncompromising approach to quality control taught us everything we know.
His surgeon like mixing skills and his ability to read a crowd’s thoughts are often said to be the result of some kind of extra sensory perception. It’s a genuine honour to have the North East’s Lord Vader of breaks and bass back with us once again. The man the local DJ fraternity used to affectionately refer to as “the machine” and an epicure of the esoteric, Dark Skies selects music from across the whole spectrum of drum and bass to create that sound that we all know and love as just… Curves.
Phobia
Our next DJ is responsible for putting the North’s drum and bass scene on the global map. His work with Chroma, alongside Tyrone and Sato showcased his versatility as a producer and his recent 0191 project demonstrated his ability to turn his hand to any sub-genre within drum and bass. That’s before we mention his solo work, including a back catalogue of underground anthems that still get played decades after he created them, and over 15 years at the helm of Turbulence, one of the UK’s most influential club nights. Phobia is a name that carries as much as weight as his expertly blended sets. This is a rare treat, one that won’t happen again any time soon. We know he loves Curves as much as we do, and we know he’s excited to be with us for what will be an evening of North East nostalgia, newskool talent, and obviously, absolutely loads of proper drum and bass.
As always, we’re at our beloved home of the Lubberfiend; one of the best venues in Newcastle and the North of England.
Once again, we invite you to come and dance with us.
Curves crew. You know what to do.
