About this event

An Afternoon of Indie returns to Manchester for another indie daytime party

After three sold out events in a row at The Deaf Institute and due to phenomenal demand, the U.K's biggest indie party is coming back to Manchester, earlier than planned, for a special Summer afternoon edition of An Afternoon of Indie to bring you another day of non-stop indie bangers this July

Strictly over 30s only, this is one for the slightly older indie kids. Times: 3-7pm

We've hosted indie events in 17 other cities too

Brought to you Old School Indie Feeling Gloomy (turning 20 this year) & Age Against The Machine our DJs will be playing a mix of indie classics from across the decades so whether you were an 70s punk, 80s new waver, 90s britpopper or early 00s poser they'll be something for everyone.

We've played indie at Glasto, Isle of Wight, Latitude, Green Man, Standon, Camp Bestival and even main stage at Knebworth (but probably not the year you are thinking of), so we know our indie onions.

The party will finish at 7pm and the sunshine will no doubt still be shining, so you can head to the nearest beer garden to continue your night our or you could just go home and watch some Saturday night TV with a take away.

With a strict door policy of no under 30s (please bring ID) there is no chance of you rubbing shoulders with anyone who can't sing the entire version of Babies or Going Underground.

"A feast of floppy-fringed floor-fillers" - Time Out

Recommended as one of the U.K's top indie parties by BBC Radio 6

What to expect: The best in indie from: Bowie, Pulp, Clash, Jam, Cure, Joy Division, Stone Roses, Smiths, New Order, Strokes, Supergrass, Kinks, Franz Ferdinand, Nirvana, Ash, Rolling Stones, Who, Primal Scream, Killers, Sultans of Ping, Buzzcocks, Ramones, Specials, Blondie, Hole, Madness, La's, Weezer, Cardigans, Housemartins, Coral, Undertones, Inspiral Carpets, Bloc Party, Beatles, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Radiohead, Suede, Echo and The Bunnymen, Pixies plus the odd bit of rock n roll, soul, northern soul and ska!
