Magda Drozd presents: Divided by Dusk, w/ LI YILEI
Night is about to fall, the day slowly fades away — it is this twilight time that Magda Drozd’s latest album inhabits. Divided by Dusk, the Polish composer’s third solo album, carries the promise of a crepuscular otherworldliness. Inspired by her stays in Japan, its rich tradition in ambient and experimental music, and a collaboration with flautist Rai Tateishi, alongside a renewed engagement with her roots in Poland and its folk and ancient history, her work unfolds as a form of sonic excavation.
Layers of dark ambient tones intertwine with field recordings and textured violin, invoking long-gone, unspecified rituals and fragments of inherited histories.
Magda Drozd, born in Warsaw, is a composer, violinist, and sound artist living in Zürich and London. She has been releasing music on Präsens Editionen since 2019 and runs her own label, Rivercore.
Also on the bill is LI YILEI with a solo set. Li Yilei is a Chinese-born, London-based artist and composer whose work moves through tacit listening, perceptual thresholds, and the quiet tensions between presence and disappearance. Guided by a quietly mystic approach to sensing, Li treats sound as a porous field of attunement where intuition, resonance, and the barely perceptible begin to speak.
Working across tapes, theremins, objects, and self-built devices, their compositions unfold through restrained gestures, creating spaces where attention deepens and thresholds blur.
