Welcome to our Ebo Fest London activation event…
For those who may not yet know, Ebo Taylor is one of the most extraordinary figures in African music. A guitarist, composer, bandleader, and educator, his career spans over sixty years, shaping the sound of Ghanaian highlife, jazz, Afrobeat, and funk.
He collaborated with Fela Kuti in London in the early 1960s, and worked alongside legends such as Pat Thomas and C.K. Mann, and in later years experienced a remarkable global renaissance, performing across Europe, the United States, Japan, and Latin America.
His music has been sampled by artists like Usher and Kelly Rowland, and his influence continues to resonate in the work of Burna Boy, Wizkid, and many more contemporary African musicians.
Through this London activation, we aim to celebrate and support the Ebo Taylor Legacy Foundation — a cultural and creative initiative dedicated to preserving, promoting, and evolving highlife music and African musical heritage. The foundation also focuses on empowering future generations through education, collaboration, and global exchange, while championing environmental sustainability and contributing to the development of Saltpond, Ghana — Ebo Taylor’s hometown — as a model coastal community rooted in culture, creativity, and inclusion.
The official Ebo Fest will take place on 27th and 28th August 2026 in Saltpond, Central Region, Ghana.
Here in London, join us at The Jago for an evening of edutainment and joyful celebration — featuring screenings, conversations, and, of course, music and dancing with a like-minded community brought together by a shared appreciation for Ebo Taylor’s legacy.
A special, one-off night — not to be missed.
