DRESS CODE: - ALL WHITE
Marcia Carr - DJ, selector, broadcaster and long-time pillar of UK music culture - is celebrating a very special birthday by doing what she loves most: bringing people together around music.
“I thought, why not jubilate about making it? I’m here - thank God, so I am seizing the opportunity,” says Marcia. “And some of my good DJ friends are joining me to raise a glass and toast with me.”
DRESS CODE: *ALL WHITE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM*
The celebration takes place at London's BBE Store, running from 2pm until 11pm, with free entry and a simple rule: dancing room only. Expect an afternoon-to-evening session filled with deep grooves, retro vinyl cuts, and choice digital selections - all played by friends who’ve shared dancefloors, radio waves and record bags with Marcia over the years.
Joining her on the day (with more names to be announced) are:
Orin Afronaut (CoOperation Recs, Bugz In The Attic, Mousetrap & Bruk Jazz), Paris Cesvette (Quantize Recordings, OPOM), Russell Ruckman (Soul Damn Funky), and Roy Westfield (Deep Soul Connection / Snake & Dagger).
Together, they’ll bless the booth with music that reflects decades of mutual connections, shared history and love for the culture of Black music.
Marcia has one request for everyone coming through:
dress in white - head to toe, smartly done. And bring a rag or flannel, because this party’s going to get hot and sweaty.
“I want to see all my friends at once,” she says.
This isn’t about big announcements or fanfare - it’s about celebrating life, longevity and the Underground community. A proper gathering to mark sixty years going strong, surrounded by good music, movement and people who’ve also been part of her journey.
We’re raising a glass and partying hard for the Birthday Queen.
Come to party: WEAR EVERYTHING WHITE!
