IT'S SUMMER - LET'S PARTY!
We're throwing a summer fundraiser party so whether you're a resident, a one time host, a volunteer, a listener, a cafe customer or a supporter in any other way, come and join us at the Rum Shack for a night of music, dancing and hanging out on Friday, 26th June.
For this one, we're celebrating some of the music-makers we have in the RBV community with Gillieson, Kartikaia and Aladji on the line up to keep you moving from when the sun goes down until the lights come up.
Gillieson is a beat-maker, producer and artist hailing from Paisley. He has worked with an array of local Glasgow talent, as well as making music with artists from London and beyond. His production expands from hip hop/trap to electronic and ambient with influence from Detroit techno and electro, gaining knowledge whilst working at Glasgow’s institutional record shop - Rubadub.
Kartikaia are a Glasgow based duo comprised of Siobhan Anderson aka Static Cosmonaut - a trip hop/experimental/electronic artist - and Londoner and pirate radio DJ Magufo. They are both producers with eclectic taste and a love for all things electronic - and they combine forces with their Kartikaia project to bring a unique blend of UK Garage, Dubstep and Bass Music.
Aladji is a Glasgow based producer and DJ, known for constantly experimenting with new sounds and blending hip hop, jersey club, baile funk, grime, ghettotech, and nostalgic 2000s classics into their sets. Their mixes defy strict categorisation, driven by a curiosity that prioritises feeling over formula.Their DJ sets reflect the same emotionally driven, genre blurring approach found in their production work, bridging club energy with deep feeling and sonic experimentation.
As with all RBV events, any profits raised on the night will go towards the operating costs of the station to help keep Radio Buena Vida on air as a free platform for all.
Huge thanks to Shaun & Brian at the Rum Shack, Dahl on the graphics, Lewis on the logistics, Gillieson, Kartikaia & Aladji for the music, Charlie at Braw Robot print and Flor de Caña rum for helping us make this event possible by donating their time/skills/expertise/support.
And to all of you who continue to tune in, drop by, get involved and share the good word about RBV.
We wouldn't be able to do it without you!
