We’ll have two clubnights at Counterflows this year. This is the first, taking place in the Art School’s Assembly Hall, where we’ll be focussing on making it sounding and looking as good as possible: fully prep’d for 4 hours of dance subsumption. Downstairs we’ll be keeping the Vic Bar open as a quieter spot to hang out and chill, meaning you can move between both floors if you so choose.
The night kicks off with Escocia Mania, a new hybrid DJ/live performance by the founders of Glasgow’s South American dance party CLUB BESO: DJ Maicol and Loreto.
Making his way to Scotland for the first time, we welcome San Jose’s Turbo Sonidero, an artist who has found new ways to push the rich history of cumbia music into new zones; blending cumbia sonidera with R&B oldies, hip-hop and cumbia editada – loop and sample based Columbian dance music. His music hard, heavy, minimalist and haunted.
DJ E (Chuquimamani-Condori) will round off the night after performing with their brother Joshua Chuquimia Crampton at Woodside Halls as Los Thuthanaka. Expect a boundary-liquefying DJ set, tangling Aymaran folk music, pop and country with a raw overload of textures.
